Ingredients

  • 1 package King's Hawaiian Rolls 12 count, keep connected as one sheet for easier assembly
  • 12 cooked chicken breast strips rotisserie or leftover baked chicken works great
  • 4 slices Gouda cheese block or pre-sliced, overlapped slightly for maximum melt
  • 4-6 slices cooked bacon extra crispy, thick-cut preferred
  • 1/4 cup maple butter store-bought or homemade by mixing softened butter with real maple syrup. Make extra for brushing after baking.

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Bread knife
  • Pastry brush
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Use a bread knife to slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping each set connected as one sheet. Separate the tops from the bottoms.
  3. Spread maple butter generously across the cut side of the bottom half of the rolls, reaching all the way to the edges.
  4. Arrange the cooked chicken strips in a single even layer across the bottom rolls, covering every spot.
  5. Place bacon strips directly on top of the chicken, making sure the bacon reaches the edges for crunch in every slider.
  6. Layer the Gouda cheese slices over the bacon, overlapping slightly. Set the top half of the rolls back on and press gently to hold everything together.
  7. Place assembled sliders on a baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the tops are lightly golden. Check at 10 minutes to avoid over-browning.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately brush the tops with additional maple butter. Cut into 12 individual sliders and serve warm.

Notes

Hold off on the final maple butter brush if making ahead. Reheat covered at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes. Swap Gouda for Swiss, provolone, cheddar, or mozzarella if preferred. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
